The role

Summary

Assured is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the development of their critical Messaging platform, focusing on building scalable, high-reliability communication systems that power insurance claims processing. The ideal candidate will drive complex backend architecture, AI/LLM integrations, and platform innovations in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.

What you'll do

Platform Ownership: Own major backend components of the Messaging platform, including business logic, APIs, and supporting infrastructure
System Architecture: Design and implement scalable messaging workflows that handle growing volume and complexity
AI Integration: Build and maintain production-level AI/LLM integrations, including message orchestration and system observability
Database Management: Design and optimize Postgres schemas and queries to support messaging state, auditing, and performance at scale
Development Tooling: Create reusable abstractions and internal tooling to enable faster and safer product development

What we look for

Technical

Backend Development8+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience
Technology StackProficiency in TypeScript, GraphQL, and Postgres

Education

Computer ScienceDegree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

System ScalingProven success in designing and scaling robust backend systems
AI ProductionExperience shipping and operating AI/LLM-powered features in production

TypeScriptStrong production experience with TypeScript backend development
GraphQLHands-on experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIs
