The role

Summary

Benchling is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer for their Infrastructure team, focusing on Developer Experience in San Francisco. The role is critical for enhancing engineering productivity by creating innovative tools and frameworks that streamline development workflows and accelerate product delivery in the biotechnology software domain.

What you'll do

Developer Tooling: Build and implement efficient tooling for development, testing, and production release processes
Release Engineering: Design and develop release tooling to enable code changes to reach production within 10 minutes
Developer Experience Optimization: Iterate on improvements using qualitative and quantitative feedback to enhance engineering workflows
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product managers, designers, and engineering peers to create a delightful software development environment
Engineering Process Improvement: Champion effective engineering and operational patterns across the organization

What we look for

Technical

Containerization5+ years of experience with containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) in production environments
Web FrameworksExpertise in at least one web framework, preferably Node.js or Python
Problem SolvingStrong abilities in iterative problem-solving and feedback integration

Education

Computer Science/EngineeringBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Software Engineering Experience7+ years of comprehensive software engineering experience
