The role

Summary

Clipboard Health is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join their global, remote engineering team. The ideal candidate will develop scalable backend services, contribute to full-stack development, and drive innovation in healthcare workforce technology using modern web technologies and a customer-centric approach.

What you'll do

Backend Service Development: Write performant backend services using Node/NestJS, ensuring high-quality, scalable code that supports the marketplace platform
Full Software Development Lifecycle: Own the complete development process from problem definition and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support
System Reliability: Participate in on-call rotations, typically one week per month, to ensure platform reliability and immediate issue resolution
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to build impactful features and solve complex technical challenges
Customer-Centric Development: Engage directly with customers, gather feedback, and ensure technical solutions genuinely address user needs in the healthcare staffing marketplace

Programming LanguagesProficiency in TypeScript, with strong capabilities in Node.js and NestJS backend development
Frontend TechnologiesExperience with React and TypeScript for full-stack development capabilities
Database TechnologiesExpertise in MongoDB, Postgres, and Redis for robust data management and high-performance applications
Cloud InfrastructureFamiliarity with AWS services (ECS, Terraform) and cloud deployment best practices

Education

Computer Science/EngineeringBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

Production DevelopmentDemonstrated experience in developing, monitoring, and supporting services in production environments
Testing MethodologiesStrong understanding of service integration testing, end-to-end testing, and selective unit testing approaches
