What you'll do.

Cohere is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) Infrastructure team in the Middle East, focusing on deploying enterprise AI platforms in customer environments. The ideal candidate will lead a technical team, drive complex AI infrastructure deployments, and be passionate about scaling cutting-edge AI solutions for enterprise clients.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, providing strategic guidance and technical direction
  • Infrastructure Deployment: Drive end-to-end deployment of North platform in private cloud and on-premises enterprise environments
  • Customer Success: Take ownership of technical implementation and delivery, ensuring high-quality customer outcomes
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Sales teams to shape enterprise AI deployment strategies
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize performance for OpenSearch, databases, and Kubernetes services, defining scaling guidelines for compute resources
  • Scalability Engineering: Build processes and technologies that support rapid organizational growth and infrastructure scaling

Technical

  • Cloud Infrastructure

    Proven expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) with hands-on enterprise software deployment experience

  • Kubernetes Expertise

    Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipeline implementation

    Experience in performance tuning for OpenSearch, databases, and Kubernetes services

Education

  • Technical Degree

    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Deployment Engineering team in the Middle East. This isn't a typical management role — we need someone who leads from the front, gets their hands dirty, and drives impact. You'll manage a team of Forward Deployed Engineers who are on the front lines of deploying Cohere's North platform into customer environments. You should be ready to be a force to be reckoned with.

Location: Middle East (remote-first)

What You'll Do

  • Lead and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers

  • Drive end-to-end deployment of North in private cloud and on-premises environments

  • Take ownership of customer success from technical implementation through delivery

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Sales to shape how we deliver AI to enterprises

  • Mentor your team on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and enterprise-grade deployments

  • Optimize performance for OpenSearch, databases, and other K8s services

  • Define scaling guidelines for GPU and CPU compute resources

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with demonstrated leadership

  • Hands-on experience deploying enterprise software at scale

  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP)

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines

  • High agency — you don't wait for permission to solve problems

  • A doer mentality — you dig in and get stuff done

  • Experience managing engineers in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

  • Excellent communication skills in English.
