The role

Summary

Cohere is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager for its Forward Deployed Engineering team in Japan, focusing on managing complex AI-driven enterprise projects. The ideal candidate will be a bilingual (English/Japanese) professional with extensive experience in technical program management, specializing in customer-facing AI solutions and cross-functional collaboration.

What you'll do

Customer Communication: Provide clear, timely, and objective communication across tech organization, Cohere teams, leadership, and strategic customers
Project Optimization: Break down complex issues into strategies, driving engineering alignment with product, business, and marketing teams
Project Planning: Create and manage project schedules, identify dependencies, manage risks, and drive organizational alignment
Delivery Execution: Ensure on-time delivery, identify development needs, and establish checkpoints for status updates
Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve issues, coordinate cross-functional dependencies, and prioritize impacts to schedule and product quality

AI Project ManagementProven experience in managing enterprise-grade AI software projects
Technical CommunicationAdvanced skills in translating technical concepts across different stakeholder groups

Education

Bachelor's DegreePreferred in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field

Experience

Program ManagementMinimum 7 years of experience in technical or engineering program management
Customer-Facing RolesAt least 2 years of experience in customer-facing technical delivery
