The role

Summary

Confluent is seeking a Director II of Engineering to lead the Compute Platform & Unified Deployment organization, focusing on building a secure, multi-tenant, cloud-native compute infrastructure that powers Confluent's data streaming platform. The ideal candidate will drive technical strategy, architectural design, and operational excellence for mission-critical, large-scale distributed systems.

What you'll do

Technical Leadership: Drive the technical charter for Compute Platform & Unified Deployment, including cloud infrastructure, big data, security, and AI initiatives

Strategic Roadmap Development: Collaborate with product management and engineering management to build and drive the roadmap for Confluent's Compute Platform

Technical Delivery: Lead high-impact technical initiatives in security, reliability, multi-tenancy, architectural direction, and major component refactoring

Organizational Representation: Serve as a strong technical leader and representative for engineering across the Compute organization

Product Leadership: Lead product definition, architectural design, and delivery for complex distributed systems
