Summary

Confluent is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a critical Connect team responsible for developing and maintaining cloud and data system integrations. The role involves managing a team of 6-10 engineers, driving technical strategy for Confluent connectors, and ensuring high-quality, scalable data streaming integration solutions across cloud environments.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and grow a team of 6-10 engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement

Technical Strategy: Contribute to roadmap planning and technical direction for Confluent connectors and integration platforms

Operational Excellence: Drive improvements in connector reliability, performance, and operational health across cloud environments

System Design: Stay closely involved with system architecture and provide hands-on guidance to unblock technical challenges

Developer Productivity: Evolve shared frameworks, tooling, and development patterns to streamline connector development

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with SRE and support teams to enhance observability and on-call experiences

Distributed SystemsStrong foundation in distributed systems, data platforms, and integration systems

Cloud PlatformsFamiliarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud platforms

Production SystemsExtensive experience delivering and operating production-grade software systems

Education

Computer Science DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

Experience

Engineering ManagementMinimum 3 years in engineering management or technical leadership roles

Total Software Engineering10+ years of overall software engineering experience
