The role

Summary

Confluent is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Experience Foundations team, driving critical UI infrastructure across security, networking, and billing domains. The ideal candidate will transform foundations infrastructure, establish best practices, and elevate engineering capabilities across multiple product teams in the data streaming platform ecosystem.

What you'll do

Technical Leadership: Establish reusable patterns and best practices for UI engineers developing security and networking code across multiple product teams

Infrastructure Evolution: Drive the transformation of Experience Foundations infrastructure from UI-only to supporting the entire Experience organization

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Own partnerships with Product Management and Design for Security, Networking, and Billing domains, ensuring aligned and executable product initiatives

Team Development: Mentor and develop engineers across multiple disciplines, fostering a culture of ownership, excellence, and continuous improvement

Strategic Communication: Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs transparently to senior leadership while bridging technical and product perspectives

Frontend TechnologiesExpert-level understanding of modern web development, including React, TypeScript, and component design systems

System ArchitectureAbility to understand and design complex systems across security, networking, and billing domains

AI Development ToolsProficiency or high curiosity about AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor

Education

Advanced Technical DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Engineering Management8+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years in engineering management

Cross-Team CollaborationProven track record of creating reusable patterns and frameworks adopted across multiple teams or products

Leadership ExperienceExperience managing or collaborating closely with other engineering managers
