Summary

Confluent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to design and maintain Golang infrastructure services for their cloud-native data streaming platform. The role involves building Kubernetes operators, working with Apache Kafka, and ensuring platform availability and performance across large-scale distributed systems.

What you'll do

Infrastructure Service Development: Design, implement and maintain Golang infrastructure services typically implemented as Kubernetes operators

Cloud Platform Engineering: Deliver Confluent cloud foundations to the wider engineering organization

Platform Availability Management: Ensure availability, performance, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of the Confluent cloud

Large-Scale System Operations: Manage big data systems covering 10,000+ instances for optimal performance and security

PaaS Product Development: Work alongside engineering teams to build Platform as a Service product offerings

Infrastructure Automation: Utilize Terraform, Datadog, and Prometheus for automated infrastructure management

Architecture Influence: Contribute to architectural decisions and operational design points for new product features

Technical

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Go, Python, C++, or other statically typed languages

Cloud Infrastructure6+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure and cloud networking experience

Distributed SystemsStrong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development

Large-Scale SystemsExperience building and operating large-scale systems

Systems OperationsSolid understanding of disk, network, operating systems operations

Public Cloud PlatformsExperience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
