The role

Summary

Deel is seeking a highly skilled Back-End/Infra Engineer to join the Giger team, responsible for building and maintaining a powerful internal platform that enables rapid development and deployment of production-like environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and backend engineering, with a focus on creating scalable, efficient developer platforms.

What you'll do

Platform Development: Design and maintain the control plane for developer sandboxes

Backend Tooling: Develop services for automated sandbox creation, orchestration, and lifecycle management

Infrastructure Optimization: Scale and tune Kubernetes clusters for efficient resource allocation and cost management

Networking Management: Own networking setup for sandbox environments, including traffic routing and ingress tuning

Observability: Implement and evolve observability mechanisms within sandbox environments

What we look for

Technical

Kubernetes ExpertiseAdvanced knowledge of Kubernetes networking, secret management, cluster autoscaling, and resource tuning

Infrastructure as CodeExperience with Helm charts, GitOps, and infrastructure automation

Cloud Native ToolsProficiency with tools like Karpenter, VPA, KEDA, ingress controllers, and external-dns

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Engineering Experience8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering

Cluster ManagementHands-on experience managing large Kubernetes clusters with 1000+ nodes and 30k+ pods

Required skills

KubernetesAdvanced experience with Kubernetes, including creating tools, controllers, and operators

Cloud InfrastructureProven experience with AWS/GCP/Azure cloud platforms

Backend EngineeringStrong backend engineering skills with API design and database management

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Node.js, Go, or Python
