Summary

Hopper is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Fintech team to develop sophisticated backend systems powering their award-winning travel technology platform. The role focuses on innovating disruption and insurance products, with a strong emphasis on full-stack development and cloud-native technologies in a highly dynamic, impact-driven environment.

What you'll do

Backend System Development: Craft and implement sophisticated backend systems for Hopper's travel technology platform
Project Ownership: Plan, investigate, and scope upcoming projects with end-to-end responsibility
Team Mentorship: Mentor team members through pair programming and asynchronous communication
Code Quality: Continuously write, review, and improve code to enhance system reliability
Technical Learning: Stay updated on new technical concepts, services, and cloud platform features

Full-stack SkillsStrong backend development skills with full-stack capabilities
Cloud ExpertiseProficiency in GCP and cloud-native development practices

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Senior Engineering5-8 years of software engineering experience with proven track record in complex system design
Fintech/Travel TechnologyPrior experience in travel or fintech industries preferred

Full-stack DevelopmentExpertise in both frontend and backend development with emphasis on backend systems
JVM LanguagesProficiency in Scala, Kotlin, or Java with production experience
System ArchitectureStrong understanding of scalable and maintainable solution design
Service CommunicationExperience with gRPC, pub/sub, and REST communication methods
Cloud PlatformProficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native development
Infrastructure as CodeExperience with Terraform or similar infrastructure deployment tools
