The role

Summary

Mapbox is seeking a Senior/Lead Software Data Engineer for their Roads Team to develop and optimize global road network data processing pipelines. The ideal candidate will be a skilled engineer who can take ownership of data infrastructure, implement innovative solutions, and contribute to high-definition mapping technologies in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

What you'll do

Data Pipeline Development: Take ownership of existing data processing pipelines, improve scalability, and iterate on current infrastructure

Pipeline Implementation: Design and implement new data processing pipelines for road network mapping and navigation technologies

Performance Monitoring: Collect and monitor performance metrics to ensure optimal data processing efficiency

Security Implementation: Collaborate on and implement security best practices for data infrastructure

What we look for

Technical

Programming LanguagesProficiency in at least one of: C++, Python, Scala, or Java

Cloud ServicesExtensive experience with AWS services (S3, EC2, IAM, EMR, Glue, Athena, Kinesis) or comparable cloud platforms

Database SkillsAdvanced SQL knowledge and comprehensive understanding of SQL engine fundamentals

Distributed ComputingStrong understanding of distributed computing principles and architectures

Education
