The role

Summary

Mapbox is seeking a Technical Support Engineer III in China to support its location technology platform, focusing on automotive navigation solutions. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality technical support, bridge communication between customers and product teams, and help improve Mapbox's location services for automotive partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

What you'll do

Customer Technical Support: Break down complex customer inquiries and provide concise, friendly, and accurate technical responses
Documentation Management: Collaborate with engineering and documentation teams to maintain up-to-date and accurate product documentation and code examples
User Feedback Analysis: Collect and aggregate user feedback to generate actionable insights for product engineering teams
GitHub Issue Monitoring: Track and assist with open issues in Mapbox public repositories, supporting users and contributors
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with support, engineering, and product management teams to ensure consistent and high-quality customer support

What we look for

Technical

Android DevelopmentHands-on experience with Android SDK using Kotlin or Java, with ability to debug and provide code-level guidance
Command Line ToolsProficiency with command-line interfaces and GitHub
Geospatial TechnologiesExperience with or knowledge of geospatial tools and mapping technologies

Education

Technical DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Support EngineeringProven experience in technical support or software engineering roles with a customer-first approach
Automotive Tech SupportExperience supporting Car OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers, understanding in-car navigation challenges

Language ProficiencyNative-level fluency in Mandarin and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Problem SolvingAbility to break down complex technical problems and provide clear, actionable solutions

Nice to have

JavaScriptFamiliarity with JavaScript or interest in learning
