The role

Summary

Mural is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Engagement team, focusing on driving user retention and team collaboration features. The ideal candidate will own critical engagement metrics, lead a team of 5 engineers, and leverage AI-driven development practices to enhance product functionality and user experience.

What you'll do

Engagement Metrics Ownership: Establish and drive key conversion metrics including Daily Active Users (DAU), Monthly Active Users (MAU), team expansion, and workspace growth
Technical Leadership: Lead technical execution of high-impact features, including comments, threading, sharing flows, notifications, and recommendations
Team Development: Hire, retain, and motivate a high-performing engineering team of approximately 5 engineers, setting clear expectations and providing meaningful feedback
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product and Design teams to drive user collaboration and product outcomes through collaborative problem-solving
AI Development Adoption: Model and drive effective adoption of AI tools throughout the entire software development lifecycle

Technical LeadershipDemonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects and provide meaningful technical direction

Education

Minimum QualificationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)

Experience

Engineering ManagementMinimum 2 years managing engineering teams of at least 3 individual contributors
Production Development5+ years of experience shipping production code, preferably full-stack

Technical ExpertiseStrong full-stack development skills, with preference for Node.js/TypeScript
LeadershipAbility to build and motivate high-performing engineering teams
PrioritizationProven skill in ruthless scope management and delivering minimum viable products
