The role

Summary

Mural is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer for their Platform team to build and maintain critical frontend infrastructure that empowers product engineers and designers. The ideal candidate will design scalable frontend systems, develop shared component libraries, and drive platform-level improvements that enhance development efficiency and user experience.

What you'll do

Frontend Platform Systems: Design, build, and maintain frontend platform systems using React and TypeScript with emphasis on clarity, extensibility, and long-term maintainability
Component Libraries: Develop shared component libraries and design systems in collaboration with Design and Product teams, balancing consistency and flexibility
Architectural Leadership: Define and evolve frontend architectural patterns that enable safe and friction-free scaling across teams
Developer Enablement: Build developer tooling, documentation, and examples to reduce cognitive load and improve team onboarding, testing, and code reuse
Performance and Quality: Own platform performance, accessibility, and reliability, ensuring shared components meet high standards

What we look for

Technical

Frontend TechnologiesExpert-level proficiency in React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS
Frontend ArchitectureStrong understanding of frontend architecture tradeoffs including state management, performance, and accessibility
Testing ToolsFamiliarity with modern frontend testing strategies and tools like Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright

Education

DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional Experience5+ years of professional experience building complex frontend systems with clear ownership of outcomes
Platform DevelopmentProven experience building or maintaining shared component libraries, design systems, or frontend platforms
