Summary

OpenAI's Scaled Abuse team is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to design and build advanced anti-fraud systems that protect the company's AI platforms. The ideal candidate will leverage technical expertise and analytical skills to develop robust fraud detection mechanisms while collaborating across multiple teams to safeguard OpenAI's innovative technologies.

What you'll do

Fraud Detection System Design: Architect and implement sophisticated anti-fraud systems that balance fraud prevention, cost-effectiveness, and user experience
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, security, product, research, and trust & safety operations to develop comprehensive fraud mitigation strategies
Threat Monitoring: Stay informed about emerging fraud techniques and continuously evolve detection mechanisms to stay ahead of sophisticated adversaries
Advanced AI Fraud Prevention: Leverage GPT-5 and future AI models to enhance fraud detection and prevention capabilities

What we look for

Technical

Backend SystemsStrong experience in designing and developing backend and data systems
Programming LanguagesProficiency in Python and ability to work with complex infrastructure technologies
Infrastructure TechnologiesFamiliarity with Terraform, Kubernetes, Azure, Postgres, and Kafka

Education

Computer Science or Related FieldBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

Software EngineeringMinimum 5 years of software engineering experience in backend and data systems
Fraud AnalysisAt least 2 years of experience in fraud or abuse analysis, investigation, and/or operations
