The role

Summary

Patreon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Product Foundations team to design and implement scalable backend systems that power the creator economy platform. The ideal candidate will develop high-performance services, optimize system architecture, and collaborate cross-functionally to support Patreon's mission of funding creative professionals.

What you'll do

Backend System Design: Design and implement scalable backend systems capable of handling millions of requests per day with high performance and reliability
Code Quality: Write efficient, scalable, and maintainable code that meets high engineering standards
Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks in existing systems and new implementations
API Development: Build robust APIs that support Patreon's web and mobile application ecosystem
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with backend engineers, product engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality features on schedule

What we look for

Technical

Programming LanguagesStrong proficiency in Python or similar backend programming languages
Database KnowledgeExperience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and NoSQL databases
API DesignStrong understanding of RESTful API design and development principles

Education

Academic BackgroundBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)

Professional ExperienceMinimum 5+ years of backend software engineering experience
