Role

What you'll do.

Ramp is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join their innovative team developing AI-driven solutions for their financial operations platform. The role involves building full-stack AI applications, including AI Agents, RAG systems, and LLM inference infrastructure, while working on real production use cases that serve over 50,000 businesses processing $100B+ annually.

Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack AI Development: Ship complete AI projects from conception to production deployment
  • AI Infrastructure Building: Build and integrate components for AI infrastructure supporting production-level inference and fine-tuning
  • Engineering Process Improvement: Develop and improve engineering processes, tools, and systems to scale AI solutions across Ramp
  • Internal Tooling Development: Create tools and internal platforms to enhance productivity of AI and engineering teams
  • LLM Integration: Implement and optimize large language model integrations for production use cases
  • RAG System Development: Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation systems for enhanced AI capabilities
  • Model Fine-tuning: Fine-tune and optimize AI models for specific business applications
  • AI Agent Development: Design and implement autonomous AI agents for various business processes

Qualifications

Technical

  • Full-Stack Development

    Proficiency in web frameworks, backend systems, and cloud infrastructure

  • AI Project Experience

    Track record of working on full-stack AI projects with production LLM use cases

    Experience building backend systems that support AI-driven products

    Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure for AI model deployment

Education

  • Computer Science Degree

Experience

    3+ years experience building and deploying AI systems in production environments

  • Full-Stack Development

    5+ years of full-stack development experience with modern web technologies

  • Startup Environment

    Experience working in fast-paced startup or growth-stage companies preferred

About the Role

The Applied AI team at Ramp is at the forefront of leveraging AI to drive innovation across our platform. We are seeking strong full-stack engineers who are proficient in web frameworks, backend development, and infrastructure. You will work on exciting projects such as AI Agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Structured Extraction (we made https://github.com/1rgs/jsonformer), internal tooling for customer-facing teams, fine-tuning models, and build infrastructure for LLM inference. If you're passionate about working on real production use cases of large language models (LLMs) and want to contribute to groundbreaking AI applications, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Ship full-stack AI projects end to end

  • Build and integrate components for AI infrastructure, supporting production-level inference and fine-tuning

  • Develop and improve engineering processes, tools, and systems to scale AI solutions across Ramp

  • Create tools and internal platforms to enhance the productivity and capabilities of Ramp's AI and engineering teams
