Role

What you'll do.

Ramp is seeking a founding Privacy Engineer to build privacy-focused systems while supporting the company's growth in the financial operations space. This senior role requires 4+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in privacy/security, working with technologies like Python, React, and AWS to implement data protection strategies and privacy-centric solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build Privacy-Focused Primitives: Design and implement privacy-focused application primitives and integrate them into existing Ramp products
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams to design and deploy inherently privacy-centric and secure solutions
  • Data Protection Implementation: Improve, implement, and deploy data retention and anonymization strategies across the entire environment
  • Regulatory Compliance: Track shifting legal standards with Privacy Counsel and update Ramp systems and processes accordingly
  • Privacy Program Development: Build and maintain a comprehensive privacy program that supports Ramp's growth while earning customer trust
  • Security Architecture: Design secure, scalable privacy solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing financial operations platform

Qualifications

Technical

  • Software Engineering Experience

    Minimum 4 years of experience building software applications

  • Privacy/Security Focus

    Minimum 2 years of experience focused specifically on platform, privacy, and/or security engineering

  • Business Solution Translation

    Proven ability to translate business and product requirements into practical engineering solutions

  • Fast-Paced Environment

    Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments

Experience

  • Senior Engineering Role

    4+ years of software development experience with demonstrated technical leadership

  • Privacy/Security Specialization

    2+ years of specialized experience in privacy engineering, security, or platform development

  • Python Development

    Strong proficiency in Python programming, particularly with Flask framework

  • Privacy Engineering

    Deep understanding of privacy-by-design principles and implementation

  • Build privacy-focused application primitives and integrate them into our existing products

What You Need
