The role

Summary

Ramp is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Fraud & Identity to build critical security and risk management systems that protect financial transactions and user accounts. The ideal candidate will develop sophisticated backend services to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud while enhancing authentication and authorization mechanisms across the company's financial infrastructure.

What you'll do

Fraud Detection Systems: Build and evolve backend services to detect and prevent fraud across multiple surfaces, including account access and money movement.
Security Enforcement: Develop enforcement and response tooling enabling fast, safe actions like identity locks, business locks, and payment freezes.
Account Protection: Implement advanced protections against account takeover (ATO), including risk-based step-ups, monitoring, and targeted friction controls.
System Observability: Design and operate high-signal systems with comprehensive observability, including metrics, dashboards, alerting, and incident response playbooks.
Identity Management: Collaborate with UIM/Identity stakeholders to strengthen authentication and identity foundations, including roles, permissions, and identity state management.

Backend EngineeringStrong fundamentals in APIs, distributed systems, data modeling, and system reliability
Detection SystemsExperience with data-informed detection or decisioning systems, including rules engines, scoring, and anomaly detection
Production SystemsProven ability to manage production environments, including debugging, incident response, and system instrumentation

Education

Technical DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional ExperienceMinimum 3+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent
Cross-functional CollaborationDemonstrated ability to work effectively with product, operations, and cross-functional teams
