Role

What you'll do.

As a Software Engineer on GTM Platform at Ramp, you'll build end-to-end software solutions that power the go-to-market function, including demo environments, customer sandboxes, and AI-powered internal workflows. This role bridges product engineering and revenue operations, requiring you to own high-impact projects that directly enable Sales, Solutions, and Account Management teams to close deals faster and demonstrate Ramp's capabilities at scale. You'll partner cross-functionally with go-to-market teams to translate field feedback into scalable platform improvements while working in a fast-paced, high-agency environment managing billions in transaction flow.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Software Ownership: Own complete software development lifecycle for go-to-market tools—from gathering requirements from Sales, Solutions, and Account Management teams to shipping production-grade, scalable solutions that serve hundreds of internal users and indirectly impact customer acquisition and retention.
  • Demo and Sandbox Infrastructure Development: Design and implement robust demo environments and customer sandbox infrastructure that enable realistic, repeatable product demonstrations at scale. Ensure these systems reliably showcase Ramp's core capabilities (payment authorization, risk flagging, spend categorization) to prospective customers with minimal manual intervention.
  • AI-Powered Workflow Engineering: Build intelligent internal agents and automated workflows that reduce manual work in the sales process, accelerate deal cycles, and help teams solve customer-specific blockers. Integrate with modern LLM platforms to create autonomous systems that improve team velocity and customer experience.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership and Requirements Translation: Collaborate closely with Sales, Solutions, Customer Success, and Account Management teams to understand pain points, translate ambiguous commercial needs into clear product requirements, and prioritize work based on business impact and leverage across GTM functions.
  • Platform vs. Point Solution Tradeoff Analysis: Make strategic engineering decisions between building one-off enablement tools versus investing in reusable platform capabilities. Architect solutions that maximize leverage across all go-to-market teams while maintaining development velocity and code quality standards.
  • Data-Driven Metrics and Impact Analysis: Establish and track KPIs for GTM platform initiatives including deal velocity improvements, time-to-demo reduction, sales enablement adoption rates, and customer satisfaction metrics. Use data to inform prioritization and demonstrate the business value of platform investments.

Qualifications

What we look for.

Technical

  • Backend API Development

Strong proficiency in designing and building scalable REST or GraphQL APIs. Experience with production systems handling high transaction volumes, data consistency requirements, and complex business logic. Understanding of API authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and monitoring.

  • Fast-Paced Execution Environment

Comfortable working in high-velocity, ambiguous environments where requirements evolve quickly. Ability to balance velocity with quality, make decisions with incomplete information, and adapt to shifting priorities based on business impact.

Skills

Required

  • Backend Programming Languages

Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Go, Java, Node.js, or Rust. Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that scales in production environments.

  • API Design and REST/GraphQL

Deep understanding of HTTP fundamentals and modern API design patterns. Experience building RESTful services or GraphQL APIs with proper error handling, versioning, and documentation.

  • SQL and Relational Databases

Advanced SQL proficiency including complex joins, window functions, and query optimization. Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL in production environments managing large datasets.

  • Full-Stack Product Development

Ability to own products end-to-end from backend infrastructure to frontend interfaces. Capable of making architectural decisions about service boundaries, data models, and deployment strategies.

  • Problem-Solving and Debugging

Strong analytical and debugging skills. Ability to quickly diagnose production issues, trace problems across distributed systems, and implement sustainable fixes rather than band-aids.

  • Cross-Functional Communication

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, gather requirements from business teams, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • AI/LLM Integration Experience

    Nice to have

Previous experience building AI-powered features or integrating language models into production systems. Familiarity with frameworks like LangChain, agents architecture, and prompt engineering best practices.

  • FinTech or Finance Domain Knowledge

    Nice to have

Background working in financial technology, payment processing, or spend management platforms. Understanding of accounting workflows, payment authorization flows, or expense categorization logic.

  • Sales Enablement or RevOps Tools

    Nice to have

Previous experience building internal tools for go-to-market teams, sales automation platforms, or customer enablement systems. Understanding of sales workflows and what drives team productivity.

  • Sandbox and Demo Environment Architecture

    Nice to have

Experience designing isolated environments for product demonstrations, testing, or customer onboarding. Knowledge of data seeding strategies, environment management, and ensuring demo reliability at scale.

  • Observability and Monitoring

    Nice to have

Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and tracing platforms (Datadog, New Relic, Grafana). Ability to instrument code effectively and establish alerting that catches issues before customers do.

  • Agile Development and Rapid Iteration

    Nice to have

Track record of working in two-week sprints or shorter cycles, comfortable shipping incrementally and gathering feedback rapidly. Experience balancing technical debt with velocity in high-growth environments.

About Ramp

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.

The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.

If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer on GTM Platform, you will build the tools, systems, and AI-powered workflows that help Ramp’s go-to-market teams show what is possible for prospective and existing customers. You’ll work at the intersection of product engineering and revenue: creating high-quality demo environments, customer sandboxes, and internal platforms that make it easier for Sales and Solutions teams to move quickly, tell compelling product stories, and unblock complex deals.

Our work directly shapes how the world experiences Ramp before—and as—it becomes a customer. You’ll take ambiguous commercial needs, turn them into thoughtful product experiences, and ship reliable software end to end.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and own software end to end for Ramp’s Sales, Solutions, and customer-facing go-to-market teams—from understanding pain points and defining product requirements to shipping polished, dependable tools.

  • Develop demo and sandbox infrastructure that lets teams showcase Ramp’s capabilities in realistic, compelling, and repeatable ways.

  • Build AI-powered internal workflows and agents that reduce manual work, accelerate deal cycles, and help go-to-market teams solve customer-specific blockers.

  • Partner closely with Sales, Solutions, Customer Success, Account Management, and core product engineering to turn field feedback into scalable product and platform improvements.

  • Make strong engineering tradeoffs between a one-off enablement need and a reusable platform investment, raising the leverage of every GTM team that uses your work.
