The role

Summary

Replit is seeking a Staff DevEx Engineer to accelerate engineering velocity by optimizing development workflows, tooling, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a force multiplier across product teams, improving developer productivity through technical depth and a strategic product mindset, with a focus on maintaining complex polyglot codebases and enhancing internal AI-driven development processes.

What you'll do

Codebase Management: Maintain and evolve complex TypeScript monorepo, Go services, npm packages, and internal Agentic tooling

Build Pipeline Optimization: Own and optimize build and test pipelines to minimize build times and improve developer iteration speed

Code Generation: Drive code generation and type-safe interfaces across service boundaries using GraphQL, Protocol Buffers, gRPC, and OpenAPI

Code Quality: Set and enforce code quality standards using automation tools like TypeScript, ESLint, Prettier, and Go linters/formatters

Developer Experience: Streamline development setup and onboarding experience for engineering teams

Platform Collaboration: Work with platform teams to improve deployment processes, infrastructure integrations, and external tooling

Technology Modernization: Lead migrations to modern, efficient tools and keep the codebase up-to-date

AI Platform Partnership: Collaborate with AI team to improve internal AI platform and shape strategy for code generation

Dependency Management: Manage internal and external dependencies, including interfacing with open-source libraries

Programming LanguagesStrong proficiency in TypeScript, Go, and/or Nix

Build SystemsExpertise in modern build systems and toolchains like Vite, webpack, esbuild, and Go's build/module system

Development ToolsProficiency with linters, formatters, testing frameworks, and code generation tools

Codebase ManagementExperience managing monorepos or large-scale codebases

Education

DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Developer ProductivityTrack record of improving developer productivity at scale (senior through staff level)
