Associate Engineering Manager - Consumer Wealth Domain at Satispay leads a squad of 3-5 backend engineers in shaping how millions of users save, invest, and grow their money through a comprehensive fintech platform. This role combines people management, technical mentorship, and delivery ownership, requiring 5+ years of backend engineering experience with 2+ years of team leadership in fast-paced, product-driven environments. You'll drive technical execution across the Consumer Wealth Domain using Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and AWS infrastructure while fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

Squad Leadership and Team Management: Own the day-to-day management of a squad of 3-5 backend engineers. Build and maintain a high-performing team culture that emphasizes technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Foster an environment where engineers feel valued, supported, and motivated to deliver their best work while maintaining strong team morale and psychological safety.
People Growth and Mentorship: Actively invest in the professional development of team members through regular one-on-one meetings, constructive performance feedback, and comprehensive performance reviews. Identify stretch opportunities that challenge engineers to grow their skills, guide career advancement conversations, and create tailored development plans that align with both individual aspirations and organizational needs.
Technical Delivery and Roadmap Execution: Translate product and business objectives into a clear, predictable technical roadmap aligned with company strategy. Drive end-to-end delivery of complex features in the Consumer Wealth Domain. Optimize agile workflows, remove technical blockers, and ensure the team consistently delivers reliable, scalable solutions that meet quality standards and business timelines.
Technical Architecture and Standards: Leverage your backend engineering expertise to guide architectural decisions and ensure technical health across the Consumer Wealth squad. Facilitate technical discussions with Senior and Staff Engineers, review design patterns, and establish shared engineering standards that promote consistency, maintainability, and scalability. Ensure distributed systems design and API architecture align with fintech best practices and regulated industry requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and peer Engineering Managers to align on priorities, manage technical dependencies, and resolve conflicts. Represent the engineering team's perspective in product discussions while translating business requirements into achievable technical solutions that balance innovation with operational stability.
Leadership Communication and Reporting: Keep leadership informed on squad progress, technical risks, blockers, and opportunities through clear, timely communication. Translate complex technical challenges into business-relevant language that enables informed decision-making. Present team achievements and metrics to executive stakeholders while advocating for your team's needs and growth initiatives.

Backend Engineering Expertise5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in building distributed systems, microservices architectures, and robust APIs. Deep understanding of concurrency patterns, database design, system scalability, and performance optimization in high-throughput environments.
Cloud Architecture and AWSProven experience designing and implementing solutions on AWS infrastructure including EC2, ECS, S3, AWS Lambda, Kinesis, and ElasticSearch. Familiarity with containerization, infrastructure-as-code, and deploying scalable applications in cloud-native environments.

Education

Senior Backend Engineering Experience5+ years working as a backend engineer, ideally progressing through levels of increasing responsibility and complexity. Experience owning complete services from design through production operation. Track record of making sound architectural decisions and improving system reliability.
Team Leadership in Fast-Paced Environments2+ years managing engineering squads in dynamic, product-driven organizations where priorities shift rapidly and technical excellence must be balanced with business velocity. Experience navigating scaling challenges and building team resilience during periods of growth or change.
Fintech or Regulated Industry BackgroundBackground working in fintech, banking, payments, or other regulated industries where data security, compliance, and user trust are paramount. Understanding of regulatory considerations in financial technology, data privacy requirements, and building systems that operate in high-trust environments.
End-to-End Product DeliveryDemonstrated ownership of complex features from conception through production deployment. Experience breaking down ambiguous requirements, managing technical scope, collaborating with product and design teams, and shipping features that deliver business value consistently.
