Summary

Zip is seeking a Tech Lead Manager for their Infrastructure team in Toronto, responsible for leading a high-performing team of 4-5 engineers, driving Kubernetes platform development, and supporting multi-region expansion of the company's core infrastructure initiatives.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Manage and develop a high-performing team of 4-5 engineers in the Toronto office, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
Infrastructure Strategy: Define and drive the mission, vision, and strategy for Zip's observability, reliability, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Technical Contribution: Serve as a hands-on technical contributor, actively participating in core infrastructure projects and platform development.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering leaders to support and scale the Toronto engineering team and align with broader organizational goals.
Process Optimization: Establish and continuously refine processes to ensure operational excellence and effective stakeholder communication.

Technical

Cloud InfrastructureExpertise in building and operating large-scale systems using AWS and Kubernetes
Observability ToolsProficiency with monitoring and observability platforms like Datadog
Open-Source TechnologiesStrong understanding and implementation of open-source infrastructure solutions

Education

Computer Science DegreeBachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical field

Experience

Team LeadershipMinimum 5 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of leading infrastructure or platform teams
System ArchitectureExperience in driving major re-architecture projects from initiation to completion
