Summary

Airwallex is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead for their Growth team in Singapore, responsible for driving technical strategy, product execution, and architectural quality for global payment platform innovations. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical leader who can guide complex system designs, optimize user acquisition, and contribute to the company's mission of building a unified financial platform for global businesses.

What you'll do

Technical Strategy: Partner with Product and Design to define roadmap, scope, and success metrics for growth initiatives

Product Execution: Work closely with product managers to prioritize projects, ship incrementally to production, and build comprehensive backlogs

Architectural Ownership: Own technical strategy and architecture for services and APIs with focus on scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability

Quality Assurance: Drive design and code quality through standards, reviews, automated checks, and continuous improvement processes

Infrastructure Evolution: Guide the development of application and platform infrastructure to reduce operational overhead and improve developer productivity

What we look for

Technical

Backend Engineering8+ years of backend engineering experience with expertise in distributed systems and high-availability architectures

JVM EcosystemsProficiency in Java 17+, Kotlin, Spring/Spring Boot with advanced understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and network communication

Cloud TechnologiesHands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and observability tools like Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

System ArchitectureProven track record of designing and implementing large-scale, API-driven, and integration-heavy production systems

LeadershipExperience leading engineering teams and driving technical strategy across multiple projects
