Summary

Airwallex is seeking a Staff Data Scientist for their Go-to-Market (GTM) team in San Francisco, focused on providing strategic data insights to drive the company's rapid global growth in fintech. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced analytics, causal inference, and AI to support executive decision-making and develop sophisticated data products.

What you'll do

Executive Data Partnership: Serve as the primary data partner for regional executives, providing critical insights and analytical support
Causal Inference Analysis: Develop and apply causal inference methods to understand macroeconomic impacts on business performance
AI-Driven Insights: Leverage artificial intelligence to generate actionable insights and improve team and business efficiency
Forecasting Leadership: Lead comprehensive forecasting efforts by building aggregation tools, evaluating existing forecasts, and applying advanced statistical methods
Data Product Development: Scope, design, and build data products ranging from minimum viable products (MVPs) to fully developed solutions
Team Mentorship: Mentor junior team members, fostering an environment of technical excellence, clear communication, and proactive critical thinking

Data QueryingAdvanced proficiency in SQL and scripting languages like Python and R
Data ArchitectureExperience with technologies such as Airflow, Databricks, and dbt
Advanced AnalyticsExpertise in causal inference methods and statistical forecasting techniques

Education

Advanced DegreePhD or Master's degree in quantitative fields such as Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Economics

Experience

Industry ExperienceMinimum of 7+ years of professional experience in data science or related quantitative fields
Executive CollaborationProven track record of working directly with executive-level stakeholders to influence strategic decisions
