The role
Summary
Airwallex is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their AI Platform team in Singapore, driving the company's transformation into an AI-driven organization. This senior leadership role requires 10+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in management, focusing on building scalable AI/ML solutions for the global fintech platform.
What you'll do
Strategy & Vision Development: Develop and execute AI team strategy, aligning technical roadmap with business objectives while staying current with industry trends
Team Leadership & Management: Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams of software engineers and AI specialists, fostering collaboration and technical excellence
Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Product, Design, and Operations teams to define roadmap, prioritize backlog, and deliver high-impact AI solutions
Technical Architecture Ownership: Serve as accountable owner for AI services architecture and system quality, providing guidance on scalable, reliable, and secure solutions
Hands-On Technical Leadership: Guide architectural designs, review critical models and APIs, and de-risk complex initiatives through technical deep dives
LLMOps Best Practices: Champion AI lifecycle best practices including prompt-tuning, context engineering, fine-tuning, and human-in-the-loop feedback
Operational Excellence: Own production AI systems' operational health including on-call readiness, model monitoring, and incident response
Talent Strategy & Development: Lead talent acquisition, onboarding, and development of top-tier engineers while building diverse teams and succession plans
Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate AI initiatives progress, insights, and business impact to executive leadership and cross-company stakeholders

Technical
Python ProgrammingProficiency in Python for AI/ML development and platform engineering
AI/ML FrameworksStrong understanding of frameworks like LangGraph and other machine learning libraries
Cloud PlatformsExperience with Google Cloud Platform for deploying and scaling AI services
ContainerizationExpertise with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment
LLMOpsKnowledge of large language model operations, prompt engineering, and model lifecycle management
Education
Bachelor's DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
Advanced Degree PreferredAdvanced degrees in relevant technical fields would be an advantage
Experience
Software Engineering ExperienceMinimum 10+ years of experience in software engineering or AI/ML development
Leadership ExperienceAt least 3 years in leadership role managing high-performing engineering teams
AI/ML Domain ExpertiseProven track record in artificial intelligence and machine learning system development
