Summary

Airwallex is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Data Knowledge Platform team, responsible for developing critical data infrastructure and AI/ML platforms. The role involves defining a strategic roadmap for real-time data analysis, scaling engineering teams, and driving innovation in data ecosystems to support the company's global financial technology solutions.

What you'll do

Strategic Roadmap Development: Define a comprehensive 1-3 year strategic roadmap for the Realtime Data Platform, focusing on technological innovation and business alignment.

Data Platform Modernization: Lead multi-year efforts to modernize core data platform, introducing real-time analytical processing at petabyte scale.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product teams to enable data-driven features, ensuring robust platform capabilities for AI-powered applications and real-time dashboards.

Team Scaling and Leadership: Scale and structure engineering teams, including talent acquisition, mentoring managers, and developing senior individual contributors.

Technical Advisory: Cultivate strong relationships across product and engineering teams, serving as a trusted technical advisor for Data and AI initiatives.

Distributed Data ProcessingExpertise in technologies like Apache Spark, Databricks, and Kafka for large-scale data processing

Data Storage TechnologiesProficiency in modern data storage and serving technologies including CubeJS, ElasticSearch, and Clickhouse

Observability ToolsExperience with observability platforms such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus

Education

Advanced DegreeBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Leadership ExperienceMinimum 8 years in data or software engineering, with at least 3 years in leadership or management roles

Team ManagementProven track record of successfully managing and scaling engineering teams of 10+ people
