Summary

Airwallex is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for their Risk Platform team in Singapore, responsible for developing and managing cutting-edge fraud detection systems using advanced technologies like machine learning and graph analysis. The ideal candidate will lead a high-performing team, drive strategic risk management solutions, and play a crucial role in protecting the company's global financial products.

What you'll do

Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction for the fraud and risk platform, aligning technical strategy with business goals and regulatory requirements

Team Development: Build and scale a high-performing engineering organization, establishing career paths, performance processes, and cultivating a culture of excellence

Product Development: Collaborate with Product Management to define roadmaps, prioritize backlog, and deliver outcomes that improve fraud detection rates and minimize financial risks

Technical Oversight: Serve as the accountable owner for system architecture, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency of real-time decisioning systems

Operational Excellence: Manage on-call readiness, incident response, postmortems, and continuously improve system observability and reliability

System ArchitectureDeep expertise in distributed systems, high-availability, and high-throughput architectures

Programming LanguagesAdvanced proficiency in Java, with strong understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and network programming

TechnologiesHands-on experience with Spring/Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms

Education

Academic QualificationBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field

Experience

Engineering ManagementMinimum 2+ years in engineering management with 8+ years of back-end engineering experience

Risk ManagementProven experience in risk management or fintech product engineering

JavaProficiency in Java programming with advanced concurrency and network programming skills

Distributed SystemsStrong understanding of high-availability and high-throughput system architectures
