Summary

Airwallex is seeking a Frontend Engineer II for their Client Risk team to build web applications for risk operations and compliance workflows. This role combines frontend expertise with light backend/BFF capabilities, requiring 2+ years of experience in TypeScript, React, and complex web application development within the fintech risk management domain.

What you'll do

Frontend Application Development: Design, build, and maintain high-quality, scalable frontend applications for Client Risk workflows including case management, monitoring, investigations, reporting, and operational tooling

UX Flow Design: Partner with Product and Operations teams to translate ambiguous operational problems into clear, efficient, auditable, and compliant user experience flows

Component Architecture: Build reusable frontend foundations including component libraries, shared modules, and patterns for state management, access control, and form-heavy workflows

API Integration: Integrate with backend services via REST and GraphQL APIs, ensuring correct data contracts, performance optimization, and reliability for operations-critical experiences

Engineering Excellence: Drive frontend architecture and engineering excellence through performance optimization, observability, testing strategy, accessibility, and maintainable code practices

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with backend engineers, data scientists, compliance partners, and product managers to deliver solutions with measurable operational and risk outcomes

Full-stack Contribution: Contribute to BFF or light backend tasks including Node.js endpoints, API integrations, and schema changes to enable end-to-end feature delivery

Frontend Experience2+ years of professional frontend engineering experience with ownership of complex web applications

TypeScript & JavaScriptStrong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript ES6+ with deep understanding of language features

React EcosystemStrong experience with React including state management, routing, component patterns, and performance optimization

Frontend ArchitectureExperience designing and delivering frontend architecture for large-scale web systems including modularization and build tooling

Styling & UIFamiliarity with frontend styling approaches and UI libraries such as Material UI, Ant Design, or Bootstrap

API IntegrationSolid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, browser fundamentals, and building reliable flows on RESTful APIs

Education

Computer Science BackgroundBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Technical ProficiencyStrong foundation in software engineering principles, data structures, and web development best practices

Web Application OwnershipDemonstrated experience owning and delivering complex web applications end-to-end

Large-scale SystemsExperience building frontend components for enterprise-scale web applications with high reliability requirements
