Summary

Airwallex is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build intelligent, scalable financial infrastructure using Python and Google Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate will develop distributed systems that power AI-driven financial solutions, working at the intersection of advanced technology and financial operations.

What you'll do

Distributed Systems Design: Design and operate event-driven systems processing high-volume, high-sensitivity financial data with strict correctness and latency guarantees

API Development: Build typed, production-grade APIs and services in Python that power agentic workflows and real-time financial infrastructure

Data Architecture: Own end-to-end data architecture including schema design, event models, ledger primitives, and storage layers optimized for auditability and scale

Infrastructure Development: Develop resilient infrastructure primitives like queues, retries, idempotency, and observability to enable rapid and reliable software delivery

AI Integration: Work at the intersection of systems and AI, building feedback loops to continuously improve models and system behavior
