Summary

Airwallex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of its next-generation Data Platform & AI Enablement infrastructure. The ideal candidate will architect high-performance distributed systems, optimize complex data processing pipelines, and drive innovation in AI infrastructure across global financial technology platforms.

What you'll do

Infrastructure Architecture: Lead technical decision-making for core infrastructure components, extending from foundational storage to high-availability service layers

Systems Performance Optimization: Deep-dive into performance tuning of distributed systems, focusing on state management, checkpointing, and ensuring millisecond-level accuracy at global scale

AI Infrastructure Development: Develop and integrate the 'Knowledge Platform' enabling AI-driven products through scalable vector indexing, agentic workflows, and real-time data streaming

Distributed Systems Management: Own full SDLC for high-performance distributed systems processing petabytes of data across 30+ global regions

Engineering Excellence: Advocate for elite software engineering practices, contribute to shared tooling, SDKs, and automation frameworks

Technical Mentorship: Act as a technical leader and mentor for mid-level engineers, driving project delivery through design reviews and technical guidance

What we look for

Technical

Distributed Systems Expertise5+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems or infrastructure platforms

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Go

Technology StackHands-on experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark, Kubernetes, or OLAP engines

Education

Computer Science BackgroundStrong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including distributed systems, memory management, and networking protocols

Experience

Systems ArchitectureProven track record of taking 0-1 ownership of complex technical challenges from initial design to production stability
