Summary

AKASA is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Researcher to pioneer advanced AI solutions transforming healthcare operations. The ideal candidate will develop and fine-tune large language models, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to create innovative AI tools that enhance healthcare professionals' efficiency and precision in complex operational workflows.

What you'll do

Drive Applied Research: Lead design, training, and evaluation of large language models to solve healthcare-specific challenges, advancing the state of the art in clinical Natural Language Understanding
Human-in-the-Loop Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate human feedback for model improvements and performance optimization
Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with healthcare experts to ensure models align with real-world needs and deliver meaningful results
Technology Evaluation: Continuously assess advancements in machine learning to maintain AKASA's leading edge in responsible, high-impact healthcare AI
Research Dissemination: Publish and share research findings in the broader AI community to advance healthcare applications of AI

What we look for

Technical

Large Language Model ExpertiseProven experience in training and fine-tuning large language models with deep understanding of model architecture and optimization techniques
Programming SkillsAdvanced Python programming with proficiency in deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face Transformers
Cloud and Distributed ComputingExperience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), Kubernetes/Kubeflow, and multi-GPU environments

Education

Advanced DegreePh.D. in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field

Experience

Research Experience2-3 years of industry experience with strong preference for peer-reviewed publications in top AI conferences
Healthcare Domain KnowledgeExperience with clinical natural language understanding and healthcare data standards (EDI, FHIR) is highly preferred
