The role

Summary

Mapbox is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join their globally distributed team, responsible for managing cloud infrastructure, CI/CD platforms, and foundational compute resources using cloud-native technologies. The ideal candidate will drive infrastructure-as-code initiatives, support developer experience, and contribute to the company's scalable and secure cloud ecosystem.

What you'll do

Infrastructure-as-Code Management: Maintain secure, reliable, and cost-efficient infrastructure using Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation, and CDK

Cloud Architecture: Architect and promote Kubernetes deployments, lead migration of deployment pipelines from ECS to EKS and ArgoCD

CI/CD Development: Design and implement centralized, scalable CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub Actions and Runs-on

Observability Platform: Configure and maintain comprehensive monitoring platforms like Datadog for real-time analytics and alerting

Strategic Leadership: Influence Mapbox Cloud Platform strategy around AWS architecture and open-source tools and frameworks

What we look for

Technical

Cloud Infrastructure5+ years experience with infrastructure-as-code frameworks (Terraform, Terragrunt, CDK)

Container Orchestration4+ years experience with EKS, ECS, Kubernetes orchestration at scale

CI/CD Tools4+ years managing distributed CI/CD frameworks using GitHub Actions

Education

Technical DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Cloud Platform ExperienceProven ability to design secure and cost-efficient solutions on AWS using EKS, ECS, EC2, Lambda, Fargate

ObservabilityExperience configuring monitoring systems in large-scale distributed environments
