Summary

Mapbox is seeking a Software Development Engineer II (Data Engineer) for their HD Maps team to lead algorithmic development in geospatial big data analytics. The ideal candidate will design and build cloud applications using Python, AWS, and Spark, focusing on high-precision mapping solutions for automotive and GIS markets.

What you'll do

Product Roadmap Development: Lead the initiation, design, and building of product roadmaps for algorithmic stages within cloud applications
Cloud Application Development: Code and develop algorithmic stages using Python, SQL, AWS, and Spark with a focus on high scalability
Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate across R&D teams to integrate analytics solutions into mapping products and align with strategic objectives
Customer Engagement: Engage directly with customers in automotive and mapping industries across EU, US, Japan, and China to understand market needs

What we look for

Technical

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Python and other data analysis programming languages
Cloud PlatformsExperience with AWS and Apache Spark for deploying scalable cloud applications
Geospatial TechnologiesStrong understanding of geospatial data concepts and tools like GeoJSON, PostGIS, QGIS

Education

Academic QualificationBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or related field
