The role

Summary

Mapbox is seeking a Software Development Engineer II (SDEII) to join their Data Platform team, focusing on building and delivering critical internal data infrastructure, tools, and platforms. The ideal candidate will help support Mapbox's massive data processing capabilities, working with cutting-edge technologies to manage over 100 billion GPS points daily and develop scalable data solutions.

What you'll do

Data Infrastructure Development: Build and support internal data tools, pipelines, and platforms for Mapbox engineers

Data Ingestion Systems: Work on batch and streaming ingestion systems processing terabytes of data daily

AWS Platform Optimization: Simplify and strengthen processes for designing, deploying, and monitoring data processing and querying workloads on AWS

Operational Excellence: Test and monitor systems, provide on-call support, and ensure service health

Documentation and Communication: Document work processes, lead technical presentations, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly

Technical

Cloud TechnologiesExtensive experience with AWS services including Lambda, EMR, ECS, and Kinesis

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Node.js and Python

Data Processing ToolsExperience with Apache Spark and Airflow

Education

DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred
