The role

Summary

Poshmark is seeking an AI/ML Engineering Intern for their innovative social commerce platform, offering a unique opportunity to work with massive datasets and develop cutting-edge machine learning solutions across product, marketing, and operations domains. The internship provides hands-on experience in solving complex challenges in social commerce, including recommendation systems, search ranking, and fraud prevention.

What you'll do

Machine Learning Model Development: Build and deploy machine learning models to address critical business challenges in social commerce
Documentation and Reporting: Create comprehensive documentation of machine learning work and research findings
Algorithm Research and Implementation: Implement new algorithms or modify existing ones based on recent research papers and industry best practices
Proof of Concept Development: Develop POCs to explore innovative solutions for previously unaddressed problems within the AI/ML team
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with AI/ML engineers and scientists to drive collaborative innovation and knowledge sharing

What we look for

Technical

Programming LanguagesProficiency in Python, SQL, Java, or Scala
Machine Learning TechniquesStrong understanding of regression, classification, loss functions, evaluation metrics, ensemble methods, and cross-validation
Big Data ProcessingFamiliarity with Spark or other big data processing frameworks
Data Structures and AlgorithmsSolid understanding of fundamental computer science concepts

Education

Academic BackgroundPursuing or recently completed degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Data Science

Experience

Academic QualificationCurrent or rising senior enrolled in an accredited university, or recent college graduate graduating between Fall 2026 and Summer 2027

Machine Learning ConceptsDeep understanding of core machine learning principles and techniques
ProgrammingStrong coding skills in at least one relevant programming language
CommunicationExcellent written and verbal communication skills
