The role

Summary

Poshmark is seeking a highly skilled Staff Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the health, scalability, and performance of their complex web-scale systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud operations, system automation, and proactive infrastructure management, working closely with development teams to maintain and improve Poshmark's robust technology infrastructure.

What you'll do

System Health Management: Serve as the primary point of responsibility for the overall health, performance, and capacity of internet-facing services
Application Expertise: Gain deep knowledge of complex applications and their infrastructure requirements
Deployment and Feature Roll-out: Assist in deploying new product features and installations to support rapid iteration and growth
Tooling Development: Develop tools to improve deployment capabilities and monitoring of custom applications in a large-scale UNIX environment
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to ensure platforms are designed with operational efficiency in mind
On-Call Support: Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure continuous system reliability

Technical

Cloud InfrastructureExtensive experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
DevOps ToolsProficiency in continuous integration, configuration management, and monitoring tools
Scripting and CodingStrong scripting and coding skills across various programming languages

Education

Bachelor's DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Systems Engineering6+ years of experience in Systems Engineering/Site Reliability Operations, preferably in a startup or fast-growing company
Large-Scale Operations6+ years of experience in UNIX-based web operations and 24/7 support for large-scale production environments

Skills

Required skills

Cloud TechnologiesHands-on experience with AWS services like EC2, RDS, CloudFront, S3
DevOps ToolsProficiency in Terraform, Packer, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible
Monitoring ToolsExperience with Datadog, Nagios, New Relic, Graphite for system monitoring

Nice to have

Open Source TechnologiesFamiliarity with a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools
