The role

Summary

Wealthsimple is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join their innovative AI Platform Foundations Team, focusing on building cutting-edge AI-assisted development tooling. The ideal candidate will help shape AI engineering practices by creating robust, governed platforms that enhance developer productivity across a polyglot technology environment.

What you'll do

AI Platform Development: Build shared AI tooling platform from the ground up, consolidating custom LLM tools into a governed, reusable infrastructure
Developer Productivity: Create AI-powered automation tools to reduce friction in development lifecycle, including AI-assisted code reviews and automated PR approvals
Governance and Guardrails: Design and implement policy controls and verification layers to ensure safe and compliant AI interactions across the organization
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work across multiple engineering teams to drive platform adoption, track metrics, and ensure tooling meets diverse technological needs
Standards Definition: Establish standards and practices for AI-assisted engineering, influencing LLM integrations, cost governance, and tooling strategy

What we look for

Technical

Programming LanguagesProficiency in two or more of Ruby, Python, TypeScript, Java/Kotlin
AI and LLM ExperienceHands-on experience building LLM-powered developer tools and integrating AI APIs
Platform EngineeringExperience in developer experience, developer tooling, and building scalable internal platforms

Education

Technical DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional Experience7+ years of software development experience with a focus on platform engineering or developer tooling
AI SystemsProven track record of building AI-powered or LLM-driven systems
