The role

Summary

Welltech is seeking a Senior Backend Java Engineer to join their Payments team, focusing on building a modern internal payments platform. The ideal candidate will design scalable microservices, work in cloud-native environments, and contribute to a collaborative team transforming health and fitness technology across global markets.

What you'll do

System Design: Design and implement scalable, reliable microservices using Spring Boot
Cloud Operations: Manage deployments across Kubernetes clusters with minimal production downtime
Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative technical solutions
Engineering Excellence: Drive best practices in code quality, test automation, and continuous integration

What we look for

Technical

Java ExpertiseMinimum 5 years of hands-on experience building high-performance production applications
Microservices ArchitectureProven track record of designing and scaling distributed systems
Cloud InfrastructureExperience with AWS or major cloud providers, Kubernetes deployment across multiple environments

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Backend Development5+ years of professional backend development experience with Java and microservices

Skills

Required skills

JavaStrong Java programming skills with production experience
Spring BootDeep expertise in Spring Boot ecosystem, including Spring MVC, RESTful services, and Spring Data
Database ManagementProficiency with relational databases like PostgreSQL, including query optimization
