The role

Summary

Zapier is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer specializing in Release Engineering to build and evolve critical CI/CD systems that enable efficient, reliable, and secure software delivery across their platform. The role focuses on designing advanced deployment workflows, improving pipeline performance, and driving technical innovation in an AI-enhanced development environment.

What you'll do

CI/CD Systems Development: Design, implement, and operate comprehensive CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
Platform Infrastructure: Build and evolve standardized CI templates, Golden Paths, and implement validation gates, testing strategies, and deployment safeguards
Technical Leadership: Drive technical design, evaluate system tradeoffs, write clear design documents, and influence technical decision-making with pragmatic solutions
Reliability Engineering: Define and improve delivery metrics, build observability across pipelines, debug complex production issues, and proactively identify systemic improvements
Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with Infrastructure, Security, and other engineering teams to support platform tooling adoption and communicate progress in an async-first environment

Technical

CI/CD ToolsProficiency with GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar continuous integration and deployment tooling
ContainerizationSolid understanding of Kubernetes and modern deployment patterns
System DesignExperience in designing scalable, reliable production systems with strong architectural considerations

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Professional Experience5-8+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform engineering

Skills

Required skills

CI/CD DevelopmentExpert-level skills in building and operating continuous integration and deployment systems
KubernetesAdvanced understanding of container orchestration and modern deployment methodologies
System ReliabilityProven ability to debug complex systems and improve overall system reliability
