The role

Summary

Zapier is seeking a Backend Engineer for its Enterprise Integrations team in India, focusing on building and maintaining critical integrations with a strong emphasis on AI-assisted development. The role requires deep technical expertise in API integrations, customer empathy, and the ability to work effectively in an async-first, remote environment.

What you'll do

Enterprise Integration Development: Build, evolve, and maintain enterprise-grade integrations across REST, OAuth, and webhook-based APIs, owning the full lifecycle from design through deprecation
AI-Assisted Coding Workflows: Lead projects using agentic coding workflows, configuring tools and context, and pairing with AI systems to generate, refactor, and migrate code
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with Support, Success, Sales, Product, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure integrations meet enterprise customer needs
Technical Mentorship: Support teammates through pair-programming, code and prompt reviews, and mentoring on backend fundamentals and agentic development practices
Infrastructure Contribution: Contribute to shared engineering infrastructure including SDKs, libraries, internal tools, CI pipelines, and observability frameworks

AI-Assisted DevelopmentProficiency in AI-driven development workflows, including multi-agent patterns and AI code generation
Backend TechnologiesStrong competence in main backend technologies used by the team

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Integration DevelopmentProven experience in developing and maintaining complex API integrations
Enterprise SoftwareExperience working with enterprise-grade software and understanding of enterprise constraints
