The role

Summary

Deel is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Lead for their FinTech platform to oversee wallet infrastructure and regulated money movement operations across 150+ countries. This hands-on leadership role combines people management with technical expertise in payments systems, requiring deep knowledge of JavaScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, and banking/PSP integrations within a compliance-focused environment.

What you'll do

Team Leadership: Lead a high-performing fintech engineering team through daily stand-ups, planning sessions, and backlog grooming

Wallet Infrastructure Development: Design, build, and scale wallet infrastructure for global Deel users across 150+ countries

Banking Integration Management: Collaborate with teams to integrate wallets with regional banks through PSPs via APIs

Treasury Operations: Orchestrate pay-ins and ensure seamless treasury operations for global money movement

Financial Systems Integration: Connect wallets with General Ledger systems to ensure accurate balances and audit-compliant financial records

Compliance Coordination: Work with Compliance, Treasury, and PSP Integration teams to ensure adherence to local regulations

Technical Leadership: Provide strategic technical guidance in a global, fast-paced environment where uptime and precision are critical

JavaScript/Node.js ExpertiseStrong proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js for backend fintech development

PostgreSQL & Sequelize ORMAdvanced knowledge of PostgreSQL database management and Sequelize ORM

Distributed SystemsDeep understanding of distributed systems architecture and design patterns

Banking/PSP API IntegrationExperience with API-driven banking and Payment Service Provider integrations

FinTech Domain KnowledgeHands-on experience with wallets, fund flows, compliance, and regulated money movement

Education

Computer Science or Related FieldBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Experience

Team Leadership ExperienceProven experience as Team Lead or Manager in payments, banking, accounting, or treasury domains

FinTech Industry BackgroundPrior experience at fintech companies like Wise, PayPal, or similar payment platforms preferred

EMEA Location RequirementMust be based in EMEA with high availability for global collaboration

Scale Project ManagementAbility to run large-scale projects, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional alignment
