The role

Summary

Hopper is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to build and evolve their security infrastructure, focusing on proactive application security, automated vulnerability management, and integrating security seamlessly into developer workflows. The ideal candidate will use AI as a force multiplier to create intelligent, scalable security tooling that empowers engineering teams.

What you'll do

Vulnerability Management: Own and evolve the vulnerability management program with a comprehensive approach to application security, including container images, dependency scanning, code analysis, and runtime detection.
Security Tooling Development: Build and maintain security tools that seamlessly integrate into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows, ensuring automated and proactive security measures.
AI-Powered Security: Leverage AI extensively to accelerate code writing, automate complex analyses, and develop intelligent security tooling that scales beyond manual capabilities.
Telemetry Optimization: Assess and improve the organization's telemetry strategies across systems to enhance security monitoring and detection capabilities.
Secure Development Advocacy: Collaborate directly with engineering teams to influence secure development practices by creating tools and defaults that make secure implementations the most straightforward path.
Incident Response: Investigate and respond to security findings while prioritizing the development of preventative and detection systems over manual incident chasing.

What we look for

Technical

Application SecurityDeep expertise in vulnerability management, understanding of CVEs, dependency risks, container security, and SDLC security integration
Cloud InfrastructureHands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly GCP/GKE or equivalent cloud environments
AI Tool ProficiencyDemonstrated ability to use AI coding assistants and LLMs as core development and analysis tools

Education

Relevant DegreeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Engineering BackgroundMinimum 5 years of experience in software or platform engineering, with proven ability to design and maintain production-quality tools
Security CultureProven track record of influencing engineering culture around security without impeding development velocity
