Summary

Hopper is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to build and evolve their security infrastructure, focusing on creating automated, AI-powered security tooling that integrates seamlessly into development workflows. The ideal candidate will proactively design systems that make security transparent and effective across the entire software development lifecycle.

What you'll do

Vulnerability Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive vulnerability management program focusing on application security, including container images, dependencies, and code scanning
Security Automation: Build security tooling that integrates directly into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring automatic security checks and improvements
AI-Powered Security: Leverage AI tools to accelerate code writing, automate complex analyses, and create intelligent security systems
Telemetry Optimization: Assess and improve security telemetry across systems to enhance threat detection and response capabilities
Developer Security Enablement: Work directly with engineering teams to promote secure development practices through innovative tools and default secure configurations

What we look for

Technical

Security ExpertiseMinimum 5 years of software/platform engineering experience with strong application security background
Cloud SkillsProficient in cloud infrastructure, particularly GCP/GKE or equivalent platforms

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical field preferred
Security CertificationsRelevant security certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent

Experience

Security Tool DevelopmentProven track record of designing and maintaining production-quality security tools
Security CultureExperience influencing engineering teams' security practices and mindset

Skills

Required skills

Application SecurityDeep understanding of vulnerability management, CVE assessment, and secure development practices
Cloud InfrastructureHands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly GCP/GKE
