The role

Summary

Hopper is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to build and evolve their security infrastructure, focusing on application security, vulnerability management, and creating automated security tooling that seamlessly integrates into developer workflows. The ideal candidate will use AI as a force multiplier to develop intelligent, proactive security solutions that make secure practices both invisible and unavoidable.

What you'll do

Vulnerability Management: Own and evolve the vulnerability management program with a focus on application security, including container images, dependencies, code scanning, and runtime detection
Security Tooling Development: Build and maintain security tools that integrate directly into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows to automate security processes
AI-Powered Security: Leverage AI tools to write code faster, automate analyses, and build intelligent security tooling that scales beyond manual capabilities
Telemetry Assessment: Assess and improve the utilization of telemetry across system infrastructure to enhance security monitoring
Secure Development Advocacy: Work directly with engineering teams to influence secure development practices by creating tools and defaults that make secure paths easier

What we look for

Technical

Cloud InfrastructureHands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically GCP/GKE or equivalent
Application SecurityDeep understanding of CVEs, dependency risks, container security, and SDLC security integration
AI Tool ProficiencyDemonstrated experience using AI coding assistants and LLMs as a core part of development and analysis workflow

Education

Computer Science/CybersecurityBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical field preferred

Experience

Security EngineeringMinimum 5 years of experience in software and/or platform engineering with ability to design and maintain production-quality tools
