Summary

Ashby is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to help scale their innovative talent acquisition software platform. The role involves building robust infrastructure, optimizing system performance, and creating developer tools that enable the engineering team to deliver high-quality software efficiently and securely.

What you'll do

Infrastructure Optimization: Scale and optimize Ashby's cloud infrastructure to support rapid company growth and increasing customer demands
Developer Tooling: Create and improve developer tools that enhance productivity, reduce complexity, and streamline the development process
Security and Reliability: Implement automated guardrails for data security, privacy, and system reliability across the platform
Performance Engineering: Optimize database performance, implement event-driven architectures, and develop robust monitoring and observability solutions
Platform Architecture: Design and implement infrastructure-as-code solutions that support scalable, secure, and efficient software delivery

What we look for

Technical

Infrastructure as CodeStrong experience with infrastructure automation and declarative infrastructure management
Cloud TechnologiesExtensive knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and services
Programming SkillsProficient in writing production-level code, with comfort in multiple programming paradigms
System DesignAdvanced understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization

Education

Computer ScienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

Platform EngineeringProven track record of building infrastructure at a growth-stage startup or scaling technology company
Reliability EngineeringExperience implementing SLOs, SLIs, and creating robust monitoring and alerting systems

TypeScriptStrong TypeScript programming skills for backend and frontend development
SQLAdvanced SQL skills for data modeling and performance optimization
